The
chief guest of the program, Prof. Dr. Jeevraj Pokhral (Vice-chancellor,
NAST), inaugurated the International Conference of Mathematics
to Non-linear Sciences (AMNS-2016) on May 26, 2016. Nepal Mathematical
Society (NMS), the Association of Nepalese Mathematicians in America
(ANMA), the Central Department of Mathematics (CDM) at Tribhuvan
University, and Mathematics Division at Kathmandu University (KU)
have jointly organized the conference. In the four day long conference
held at Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM),
a total of 139 papers were presented by the mathematicians and
scientists of 17 different countries, including Nepal.
In his welcome speech in the inaugural session, Prof. Dr. Tanka
Nath Dhamala (President, NMS) expressed his pleasure to organize
such a mega event in Nepal which brought together the mathematicians
and scientists around the globe. He emphasized on the possible
collaboration of Nepalese mathematicians with the foreign experts.
Apologizing for not being able to include many interested people
in the conference, he promised for the continuation of such conferences
in Nepal in the days to come so as to include more participants
from Nepal and abroad. In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Sudha Tripathi
(Rector, TU) admired the high energy and motivation of Nepalese
mathematicians and expressed her best wishes for the successful
completion of the program. The chief guest Prof. Dr. Pokhrel was
fascinated by the topic of the conference, and gave many examples
of linear and non-linear phenomena in daily life and said that
mathematics is the spine of science and technology.
Along with a workshop in Mathematical Biology, many parallel sessions
were held at the conference in different areas of Mathematics
and Science such as Analysis, Topology, Mathematics Education,
Statistics, Big-data, Optimization, Operation Research, Quantitative
Finance, Biomedical Science, Biophysics, Geophysics and Public
Health. During the conference banquet, Prof. Dr. Kedar Nath Upreti
expressed his pleasure to have such a great event in Nepal and
thanked all the participants. In the closing session on May 29,
five winners of Poster Sessions, Mr. Raj K. Pradhan, Shiva P.

were awarded. President of ANMA, Dr. Dhruba Adhikari thanked all
the volentieers and the entire team of NATHM for the great help
and the hospitality during the conference. Receiving the token
of appreciation, the Executive Director of NATHM, Mr. Choodamani
Kattel thanked the president of NMS, Prof. Dhamala and all other
convenors for organizing the conference at NATHM. Many Nepalese
participants expressed their views that the disseminations of
results of Mathematics in the diverse areas of Natural and Social
Sciences have motivated Nepalese students towards Mathematical
research.
