A warm invitation to all life members 47th Anniversary of NMS

Nepal Mathematical Society is celebrating its 47th anniversary grandly on Saturday, 3rd Jestha at 10.30 am at the Central Department of Mathematics.
The program to honor the newsletter publication, retired professor honors, Prof Shankarraj Pant Best Paper Award, Bachelor, MPhil, PhD Fellowship, Prof. Homnath Bhattarai Research Fellowship, PhD degrees has been scheduled.
Former Deputy Prime Minister and Chairperson of Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation, Sujata Koirala, will be the chief guest at the program.

Society to Society (S2S): Training of Teachers

The Training of Teachers program, organized by the Nepal Mathematical Society Center and its Bagmati Province Committee and partially supported by the Nick Simons Foundation (NSF), was physically launched in Sauraha, Chitwan, with the participation of 61 teachers teaching classes 9 to 12 in Bagmati Province under the Society to Society (S 2 S) program, with the financial support of Central College, Forbes College, United Technical College, Western Advanced College of Engineering and Management, Nepal Polytechnical Institute, Pabson (Bagmati), Hissan (Bagmati), Bharatpur English Schools Society, Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Ratnanagar municipality, Presidency College of Management, Valley State College, Arambha College, Nagarik College, Proston International College. The program was inaugurated in Sauraha, Chitwan, under the chairmanship of Dr. Shriram Khadka, Central President of Nepal Mathematical Society, and under the co-chairmanship of Bagmati Province Committee President, Co-Professor Raja Ram Acharya. The chief guest of the program was Prof. Dr., Registrar of Agriculture and Forestry University. Puskar Bahadur Pal was present. The program was conducted by the Central Secretary of the society, Dr. Ramesh Gautam. At the beginning of the program, the Vice President of the society, Associate Professor Dr. Parameswari Kattel, gave a welcome speech and highlighted the relevance of the program. The guests in the inaugural session were the Central Department of Mathematics, Tribhuvan University, Department Head and former President of Nepal Mathematics Society, Prof. Dr. Chet Raj Bhatta, Campus Head of Birendra Bahumukhi Campus, Dr. Prem Sagar Bhandari, Nepal Physical Society Bagmati Province Committee President, Prof. Dr. Harihar Poudel, Nepal Chemical Society Bamati Province Committee President, Dr. Gagan Raj Pokharel, Pabson Chitwan President, Madan Puri, Hissan Chitwan President, Dipendra Dhakal, Central College President Y. B. Poudel, and Deepak Dhakal of Nepal Polytechnical Institute. The esteemed personalities who spoke at the program expressed the view that upgrading the teaching and learning of mathematics is necessary for the improvement of the education sector in Nepal and that every program and effort being made by the Mathematical Society for this is becoming essential and effective.
Speaking at the conclusion of the program, the President of the Society, Dr. Khadka, requested everyone to join hands in this selfless social service as the Mathematical Society seeks to collaborate with all concerned bodies for the facilitation and effectiveness of mathematics teaching.
The virtual form of the program was completed from Baisakh 17 to 24 under the facilitation of personalities affiliated with various universities and prestigious educational institutions. The physical program will run for 3 days from 27 to 29. In the program, school-level mathematics curriculum will be divided into different groups and discussed.

Online Mode of Society to Society (S2S): Training of Teachers started

The Training of Mathematics Teachers workshop, which will be held online from Baisakh 17 to 24 and physically from Baisakh 27 to 29 under the Bagmati Province level Society to Society (S2S), jointly organized by the Nepal Mathematics Society Central Committee and its Bagmati Province Committee, has been inaugurated virtually under the chairmanship of the Society's Central President Co-Professor Dr. Shri Ram Khadka and the Bagmati Province President Co-Professor Dr. Raja Ram Acharya. The chief guest at the inauguration ceremony was Professor Dr. Sharada Thapaliya, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture and Forestry, and Professor Dr. Chet Raj Bhatt, Head of the Central Department of Mathematics, former President Prof. Dr. Narayan Prasad Pahari, along with more than 80 mathematics teachers from Bagmati Province. The inauguration ceremony was conducted by the Secretary of the Society, Dr. Ramesh Gautam. All the people present at the program were congratulated by the Society's Vice-President Co-Professor Dr. Parmeshwar Kattel welcomed the gathering. Dr. Hari Nandan Nath, a member of the society's central working committee, and Martand Poudel, Bagmati Province Treasurer, informed about the main stages of the workshop. Former president of the society, Professor Dr. Narayan Prasad Pahari, wished for the success of the program. Similarly, the chief guest, Dr. Sharada Thapaliya, highlighted the efforts being made by the society for the upliftment of mathematics and the need for such workshops. Finally, the program chairman, Associate Professor Dr. Shri Ram Khadka, concluded the inaugural ceremony by stating the objectives of the program and the many plans that the society would bring in the future.

After that, the first session of the ICT in Mathematics class began.

Call for Applications: Various Awards

Nepal Mathematical Society (NMS) is pleased to call for applications from all PhD scholars and MPhil students of mathematics registered at Nepali universities for NMS fellowships for the year 2025. The fellowship will support NRs. 50,000/- for PhD scholars and NRs. 25,000/- for MPhil students for some academic purposes like conference attendance/presentation or publications. The deadline for the submission of the application is April 23, 2025 (Baishakh 10, 2082). The required documents should be submitted to nepalmathsociety@gmail.com with proper file names in one zipped folder in order.

We are pleased to inform you that the Nepal Mathematical Society (NMS) will be publishing the 21st issue of its Newsletter on the occasion of its 47th anniversary. This edition will highlight major activities of NMS, as well as updates from its valued life members, covering the period from Baishakh 1, 2081, to Chaitra 31, 2081 (April 13, 2024 – April 13, 2025). On the combined arrangement of Nepal Mathematical Society and The Central Department of Mathematics, TU, Kirtipur Dr. Jorge Mozo Fernandez, Professor at the University of Valladolid (Spain) and CIMPA Secretary, shared a wonderful talk on the topic "Divergent Series and Differential Equations" among more than 120 Mathematicians. The president of NMS Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shree Ram Khadka presented him a token of love (cup) and finally, the Head of CDM, Prof. Dr. Chet Raj Bhatta, expressed gratitude on behalf of both NMS and CDM with an expectation for continuity of research collaborations for the development of mathematics in Nepal.

In continuation of the NMS-ANMA TALK SERIES jointly organized by the Nepal Mathematical Society and the Association of Nepalese Mathematicians in America (ANMA), on Chaitra 3 at 8:15 PM, world-renowned mathematician from Thailand Prof. Dr. Wutiphol Sintunavarat gave a presentation on Exploring Advanced Applications in Metric Fixed Point Theory from Theoretical Foundations to Real-World Impacts to more than 80 mathematicians through zoom meeting.

  The Mathematics in the Street program, which is being celebrated globally on the occasion of International Mathematics Day,
 has been organized by the Nepal Mathematical Society at 18 locations across the country, including 4 in the Kathmandu Valley.
The program featured various games based on basic math knowledge. Participants ranged from 7-year-old students to 87-year-olds.
The main goal of this program is to convey the message that mathematics is not just a subject to be written and studied in a closed room,
 but that we can also present it as an art through various games and arts.

नेपाल गणित समाजले समाजका सभापति सह प्राध्यापक डा. श्रीराम खड्काको अध्यक्षतामा त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालयको विज्ञान र मानविकी स्नातक तहको गणित विषयको पाठ्यक्रम , प्रश्नपत्र निर्माण र उतर पुस्तिका परिक्षणमा रहेका समस्या र आवश्यक सुधारका लागि सुझाव संकलन गर्न देशभरका विभित्र क्याम्पसहरुमा अध्यापनरत ६० जना शिक्षक तथा प्राध्यापकहरु बिचमा अनलाई मिटिङ सम्पन्न गरेको छ। मिटिङमा गणित विषयको विषय समितिका अध्यक्ष तथा गणित केन्द्रिय बिभागका बिभागिय प्रमुख प्रा. डा. चेतराज भट्ट ज्यू र समाजका पूर्व सभापति प्रा. डा. नारायण प्रसाद पहारि ज्यूको सहभागिता रहेको थियो । छलफलमा उठान गरिएका तपशिल बमोजिमका शिर्षकका सुझावहरुलाई यहि फागुन २३ गते बस्ने गणित विषयको विस्तारित बैठकमा सुझावको रुपमा पेश गर्ने तयारि गरेको छ।

४ . प्रश्नपत्र निर्माण गर्दा पूर्णतः text book मा आधारित बन्नुपर्ने र सबै तहका प्रश्नहरु बैकल्पिक शैलिमा राख्नुपर्ने

५. उत्तर पुस्तिका परिक्षणमा सम्बन्धित बिषय शिक्षक नै सहभागि हुनुपर्ने र जिम्मेवारी पूर्वक कार्य गर्नुपर्ने

नेपाल गणित समाजको विस्तारिक बैठक सम्पन्न

आज मिती २०८१ फागुन २ गते नेपाल गणित समाजका निवर्तमान सभापति प्रा . डा. नारायण प्रसाद पहारी ज्यू को अध्यक्षतामा पूर्व केन्द्रिय कार्यसमिति , नव निर्वाचित कार्य समिति र सातै प्रदेशका पदाधिकारीहरुको विशेष उपस्थितिमा समाजको विस्तारित बैठक सम्पन्न भएको छ। बैठकमा आफ्नो ३ बर्षको कार्यकाल सफल र उपलब्धिपूर्ण ढङ्गले पूरा गर्नु भएकोमा प्रा. डा. पहारी ज्यू को नेतृत्वको टिमलाई स - धन्यवाद बधाई ज्ञापन गरियो। सबै प्रदेशका पदाधिकारी एवम उपस्थित सर / म्याडमहरुले महत्वपूर्ण सुझाव र सल्लाह सहित नव निर्वाचित केन्द्रिय कार्यसमितिलाई बधाई व्यक्त गर्नु भयो। समाजका नव निर्वाचित अध्यक्ष सह प्राध्यापक डा. श्रीराम खड्का ज्यू ले सबैको सुझावलाई शिरोधार्य गर्दै गणित विषयको उन्नयनका निमित्त शिक्षक, विद्यार्थीहरु , सरकारी निकायहरु र सबै स्थानिय निकाय लाई एकिकृत ढङ्गले जोड्ने र अनुसन्धानका क्षेत्रलाई अझै विस्तार गर्दै लैजाने प्रतिबद्धता जाहेर गर्नुभयो। अन्त्यमा निवर्तमान सभापति प्रा . डा . पहारी ज्यू ले बधाइ तथा शुभकामना व्यक्त गर्दै मिटिङ समापन गर्नुभयो ।
