On behalf of the newly elected Executive Committee (EC) of the Nepal Mathematical Society (NMS) for the term 2025-2027, I extend my deepest gratitude to all members of the Society for entrusting us with the responsibility to serve and contribute to the advancement of mathematics in Nepal. It is both a privilege and an honor to work towards fostering a thriving academic environment for learning, teaching, and research through this esteemed platform.
We express our sincere appreciation to all past Executive Committees, subcommittees, advisors, and esteemed members who have dedicated their time, expertise, and unwavering commitment to the progress of NMS. Their invaluable contributions, insightful guidance, and continued support have played a vital role in shaping NMS into the respected institution it is today. We humbly acknowledge their efforts and seek to build upon the strong foundation they have laid.
The newly elected EC remains steadfast in its commitment to continuing the impactful initiatives of the past while also introducing new multi-year programs aimed at further strengthening the reach and influence of mathematics in Nepal. Notably, we aspire to expand the Society to Society (S2S) initiative to a broader grassroots level and enhance the Talk to Students (TTS) program, inspiring young minds towards the beauty and significance of mathematics. To facilitate these endeavors, we have formed specialized subcommittees and warmly invite all subcommittee members to collaborate in this shared vision. Additionally, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the seven province committees for their active engagement and support, and we look forward to continued cooperation in the years ahead.
Furthermore, we are committed to strengthening professional relationships and fostering meaningful collaborations with national and international mathematical institutions. In particular, we acknowledge and value the support of organizations such as the Council for Mathematics Education, Nepal Mathematics Centre, Women of Nepal in Mathematical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences Trust Nepal, Mathematics Association of Nepal, Association of Nepalese Mathematicians in America, The Indian Mathematics Consortium, International Mathematical Union, Simons Foundation, and SEAMS. Additionally, we extend our profound gratitude to CIMPA, the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Nepal, and the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) for their ongoing support in promoting mathematical research and education in Nepal. We firmly believe that through such collaborations, we can collectively elevate the impact of mathematical sciences in Nepal and beyond.
NMS is dedicated to fostering an academic culture that nurtures the knowledge, skills, and innovative capabilities of students, researchers, and educators in mathematics. To this end, we will continue to organize and support workshops, seminars, training programs, and conferences, alongside offering fellowships, awards, and travel grants to deserving individuals. Additionally, we remain committed to enhancing the quality and reach of the Journal of Nepal Mathematical Society (JNMS), a bi-annual peer-reviewed indexed journal that serves as a platform for disseminating new mathematical discoveries.
With deep humility and a strong sense of responsibility, we pledge to serve the Nepal Mathematical Society with dedication and sincerity. We sincerely seek the continued support, valuable insights, and active participation of all members as we collectively strive to advance mathematics in Nepal and uphold the distinguished legacy of NMS.
With utmost respect and commitment,
Assoc. Prof. Shree Ram Khadka, PhD
